As a historic stopping point along the five-day stagecoach trip from Chicago to Detroit, the Irish Hills was a destination dating back to the 19th century. As this route developed into the early 20th century the Irish Hills became a must visit destination north of Chicago. Today, the Irish Hills is home to many tourist attractions as well as areas in which to step off the beaten path and enjoy the natural beauty that Lenawee County has to offer.

The Irish Hills is home to more than 50 inland lakes for recreation and enjoyment. You can spend the day on the water before you head into the dock and enjoy a peaceful dinner in the Historic Manitou Beach Village. With their Cape Cod charm, the shops and their owners will make you feel like family.

While you are visiting the Irish Hills make sure Hidden Lake Gardens is an added stop on your itinerary; here you will explore the 755-acre botanical garden owned and operated by Michigan State University. Hidden Lake Gardens offers countless photo opportunities, breathtaking views and nearly 10 miles of hiking trails to allow our visitors a closer look at the beauty this Lenawee County gem provides.

A short distance down the road you will find Michigan International Speedway: a 1,400 – acre sporting and entertainment venue. Fans from around the globe flock to this venue each year for NASCAR and ARCA series races, Faster Horses Country Concert Festival, Tough Mudder and many other events.
